From the 1st June 2012, the London Borough of Richmond (LBR) has a shared Internal Audit and Investigations Service with the Royal Borough of Kingston (RBK). As part of a national drive to reduce subletting in the UK, the Council (LBR) has received a grant from the DCLG in 2011/12 and 2012/13 to work with it’s Housing Associations on housing tenancy fraud. There is an agreement with the Council’s largest Housing Association, Richmond Housing Partnership (RHP) to undertake a programme of proactive fraud work and reactive investigations where referrals are received.
The Housing Investigation Officer’s role is to liaise with RHP and other Housing Associations to investigate fraud in the Borough. This will include investigations into both housing fraud and other connected fraud types such as Benefit fraud. The post may involve liaison with other Agencies such as the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the UK Border Agency, HMRC and other Local Authorities.
We are looking for someone with experience in local governmnet counter fraud work including experience of undertaking investigations into housing and benefit fraud, and experience of working with external agencies.
