Libraries in Richmond upon Thames are changing. By 2014 the borough’s 12 public libraries will be the focal points of their local communities, providing accessible and enjoyable services that are tailored to the needs of local residents and delivered in partnership with them.

This post is central to involving local communities in the work of libraries. The post holder will organise opportunities for volunteers to work in the libraries including work experience placements, Duke of Edinburgh opportunities and individual volunteers. You will be responsible for placement and retention of volunteers in libraries and will act as a single point of contact for communications.

You will be expected to promote a positive image of the Library Service at all times and to have a flexible approach to work.

Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work on your own initiative when necessary. You should be able to evidence a clear commitment towards working with volunteers and people of all ages,
