This team provides ongoing support and services to children who have Plans of Protection, children with cases in the family proceedings court in both private and public law cases and Looked after Children. These are complex cases in a statutory team, and involve working in partnership with staff in other agencies to work towards the best possible outcomes for children and their families.

Senior Practitioner posts to the team recognises the value we place on encouraging and enabling talented practitioners to remain where many want to be most – on the front line – while offering increased responsibility and an upward career path. In addition to carrying a caseload of more complex cases, this post will play a fundamental role in building the capability of the team, by supporting junior team members, and improving practices and processes.

Our Specialist Children’s Services division has the maximum 4 star accreditation and Investor in People status. Our emphasis is on building strong, meaningful relationships with children, young people, their families and carers, and using these to create tightly focussed care plans. We see the statutory framework and its associated paperwork as a means to an end, rather than the end in itself. Innovative practice is actively encouraged, and everyone in the team plays an influential part in making decisions about the children and young people who they are responsible for, and for involving children and young people in this process.

To help you achieve these results we provide regular supervision and practice development workshops. We also provide a manageable case load. Specific areas of strength, in ‘good staff morale’ and ‘good training and development opportunities’ were recognised in a recent, unannounced OfSTED inspection. The successful candidate will need to have extensive court work experience for this role.
